BIO
Rozita S. Fogelman aka Rozita Sophia Fogelman is a Georgian-American conceptual artist, graphic designer, eco-art activist, and educator whose work bridges traditional media with digital innovation. Born in Tbilisi, Georgia and trained in Israel before settling in Berkeley, California, she brings a multidisciplinary foundation in dance, music, fine art, and design to her artistic practice.
Her work spans painting, drawing, digital art, photography, installations, and large-scale typographic compositions. Working extensively with ASCII and Unicode as visual building blocks, Fogelman has spent more than a decade developing a post-materialist design language rooted in sustainability, abstraction, symbolic pattern-making, and environmental consciousness. Her signature kaleidoscopic geometries and color-field explorations appear in international exhibitions and online platforms including Saatchi Art and Fine Art America.
Fogelman is the founder of the ASCII Digital Design Museum (ADDM), established in 2011 as a pioneering social-media-based museum and a radical model for sustainable digital exhibition practices. The museum has received significant recognition, including the A’ Design Award in Idea & Conceptual Design (2021) and an American Institute of Architects (AIA) award for unbuilt work (2022).
Her methodology and museum model were recently the subject of a peer-reviewed open-access study presented at the World Design Intelligence Summit and published through the Advanced Design Conference, positioning ASCII/Unicode art as a viable sustainable design strategy for universities, cultural institutions, and public agencies.
Currently, Fogelman works exclusively in digital media, creating daily typographic paintings for the community canvas at The Paintshop and expanding her evolving ASCII/Unicode pattern bank through ADDM.
A dedicated educator, she founded the first multidisciplinary media art graduate program at California State University, East Bay, and has taught at Laney College, UC Berkeley, and community-based arts programs. She continues to advocate for environmentally conscious visual culture through research, writing, public lectures, and daily digital practice.

STATEMENT OF ART
I am a multimedia artist and designer working with ASCII and Unicode as my core visual language. Using the HTML text field as a live digital canvas, I create real-time typographic compositions, patterns, and architectural models rooted in sustainability and post-materialist design. My practice merges traditional and digital mediums to develop environmentally conscious methodologies and open-access design frameworks. I collaborate with artists and institutions, drawing inspiration from art, technology, philosophy, and language.
